Resetting the Combination on Your ESL Safe

If your Electronic Lock looks like any of these, please follow these instructions:

This might be a good time to replace the batteries. The batteries are located under the keypad. The keypad dial needs to be rotated counter-clockwise a 1/4 turn to release. Be careful not to pull too hard on the wires or they will break off.

  1. With the safe door OPEN and the bolts on the side of the safe all the way out, press the "C" and then the "#" button
  2. Enter the old combination then press the "#" button. Listen for a series of beeps or chirps.
  3. Enter the new 6 digit combination then press the "#" button.
  4. Enter the new combination and press the "#" button again. Listen for a series of beeps or chirps.

Test the new combination and work the bolts in and out 3 or more times BEFORE closing and locking the door. This means turn the safe handle to retract the bolts during each test cycle.

OPEN Door--- Press "C" + "#" (Beeps) + Old Number + "#" + New Number + "#" + New Number "#" (Beeps) ---Test, Test, Test -- Close Door

Note: Some safes have detents on the hinged side of the door or on the opposite end. You must manually press this rod or clip in to release the bolts to allow testing of the lock. The rod is hidden on the edge of the door and is usually located about the middle of the door on the hinged side.
